What Will They Do to Your Wedding Get-Away-Car?
Wedding cars have always been an icon in every matrimonial union. It’s a fun way to get your family and friends involved and it provides an outlet for creating some of the best memories of your wedding. Traditionally, the wedding car is supposed to be designed by someone else – usually the best man. Of course, history shows the results sometimes weren’t too pretty and these days, the bride and the groom want to have their say on what will go on with the car.
The wedding get-away-car is decorated differently from the wedding car, which will be taking the bride to the church. The wedding car and its adornments should always have the bride’s approval. In contrast, the wedding get-away-car is generally loud and calls attention to the fact that the occupants are newlyweds. Sticking to tradition, the car is adorned with an assortment of mostly wacky and humorous things such as beer cans strung to the back bumper to make noise, a large “just married” sign which can either be painted on the car window or created as a signage, and tons of ribbons, stickers, and décor.
In decorating the honeymoon car, however, it is important that the decorations do not obstruct the driver’s view in any way. No groom wants to be driving around a car that could actually bring him some harm on his wedding day. It’s also good to keep in mind that whatever material is used to decorate the car, it should be something that can easily be removed and not cause any damage to car, particularly it’s paint job. Applying or using things that can damage the car is sure to make it’s designers unpopular folk with the vehicle’s owner!
It’s particularly easy to find items that you can use to decorate the wedding car. One of the best things you can buy is liquid chalk, which works well on your car windows, won't come off in the rain, and simply needs to be wiped off when done. Plenty of crafts stores are well stocked with magnets, which can be used on the car instead of stickers. They’re easier to remove and do no damage, especially when the newlyweds decide they want to strip down the car of all that wacky trimming. Of course, you can’t forget the aerial decoration, which is a classic adornment on a get-away-car; it’s easily visible and attracts a ton of attention.
If you're worried that the men in the wedding party who will be doing the decorating don't always have the most, um, tasteful language, assign a bridesmaid to the car decorating committee ahead of time. That should help ease your mind about inappropriate sayings spelled out on the car windows.
All in all, remember that decorating a wedding car should spell fun, attention, and celebration. But never forget the guidelines, especially if you are that person given the great task of decorating. Do this right and it’s sure to be one of the best memories of that special day.
